Christmas Festival work party thanks! |
 |
Good morning everyone!
Big thanks to the group that came out yesterday to begin turning our beloved Legion Pool into a “WINTER WONDERLAND”! I can’t believe just how much we got done in one day!
There is still much to be done to prepare for a visit from Seymour Land Trust’s special friend Santa. Most of the lights are working and have been installed, we just need to hook them up. If we have any electricians out there we could use your help. Also, many tasks during the event need to be spoken for such as; baking (Santa loves his cookies), preparing hot chocolate in the kitchen and staffing the food booth, help setting up the fireworks (need about 6 capable workers with hammers), security and some helpers for Santa. We will also need a crew to help clean up after Santa leaves.
If you can do any of these things or anything else, please feel free to give me (Joe Grabinski) a call @ 203-641-1819.
Thanks!
Joe Grabinski

Christmas Festival work party
|
 |
Like the song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Yes, it’s the “Holiday season” and time for our annual Christmas Festival, in less than a month, on December 12th.
Lots of preparation is needed for that event and it all starts this Saturday, November 21st at 9 am. We will have a brief meeting followed by a work party sorting through our decorations and lights and then decorating the park. Anyone interested in helping out is encouraged to come lend a hand whether it’s 5 minutes or 5 hours or anything in between.
Nothing is better than seeing the amazement in a kid’s face (both young and old) while they watch our winter fireworks followed by a visit by Seymour Land Trust’s special friend Santa.
Come join the fun this Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm as we begin to transform our beloved park into a winter wonderland.
Thanks!

Seymour Land Trust’s 19th Annual Fishing Festival
|
 |
Friday night and all day Saturday the volunteers at the Seymour Land Trust did a fantastic job AGAIN as they conducted their 19th Annual Fishing Festival Legion Pool. Hundred of children from 5 years old to 90 enjoyed both beautiful weather and a pool filled with 800 new and cooperative brook, rainbow, brown and other types of trout.
The fisher-men, and fisher-girls had a wonderful time catching and releasing fish all day on Saturday. Friday evening hosted an informative 1/2 hour of discussion with the anxious participants before they were allowed to help stock and then catch some of the fish. Saturday was the big day when anglers started to arrive as early as 7:30 AM in anticipation of catching "the really big one" (a 28" rainbow that would have qualified the lucky person for a $500 prize, or $1,000 if they were a member of the Land Trust. Unfortunately, the wiley one is still swimming in the pool. But many members of his family contributed to the enjoyment of the event.
You can watch approximately 1 hour of the informative talk as well as pictures of the kids, parents and volunteers in action. The Seymour Democratic Town Committee volunteered its web site and the following link will get you to hosts the video for your downloading. In time, the Land Trust will have the link on its web site as well.
Please click on the following link to get you to file for downloading:
Fishing Festival Video
- once you are connected, click on the "democracy on demand" link -- then choose the "DoD" link showing "Fishing Festival". A message will ask you if you want to run or save the video file on your computer. The file is approximately 1 GB and will be placed in your "temp" folder unles you want to save it. You then choose a file to save it in, or create a new file, say LegionPool, to save it in for future screenings. It should take approximately 20/30 minutes to download depending on the speed of your computer. Have fun!
Just a reminder
The video for the Land Trust Fishing Festival will be shown on Comcast Cable 10, on Thursday, May 28th at 8:00 PM.
Thanks to Frank Loda for filming the video!
