Plans are being made for the 2009 Halloween Festival. Alex Danka and Jim Rafforty will be co-chairmen. Carmine Potash is in charge of special needs events. This event will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Legion Pool, Chatfield Park and the Joseph Nesteriak Memorial Nature Trail. It will have a segment for special needs individuals, children, and anyone would enjoys being frightened by Halloween Spirits from 3-5:30pm. Walking through these dark trails through the swamp at night with the spirits is very spooky. People who would like to have a scene may do so. It is fun dressing up and having a spooky scene, just call Alex Danka at 881-3400. Drama clubs, individuals, businesses or just a group of individuals who would like to have a scene may do so, there is no cost or fee. James Toth, owner of Seymour Jewelry and Pawn will be donating the 500 pumpkins for the children's Pumpkin Patch. The first 500 children will be able to decorate a pumpkin. Admission to the pumpkin patch is just $2 per child. We will be listing the scene sponsors as we receive them. There will be a nominal $5 fee for a one time admission to the trails to defray some of the costs. Re-admission will be $3. There will be refreshments sold during the event. The children's hours for pumpkin painting, maze, moon bounce, etc. are 1pm to 4pm. The special needs and small children's (and anyone who does not want to be scared out of their wits)trail hour will be from 5pm to 6pm. The trails will be open to everyone starting at 7pm and ending at 10pm. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO CREATE SCENES AND SUPPORT STAFF FOR GENERAL ACTIVITIES ARE NEEDED. Registration and waiver forms are available in HTML format here and in MSWord format here. EVERYONE must fill out and sign the registration and waiver form.     Flyer for the event.

Haunted Trail If you have the courage to walk this dark haunted trail Saturday night, bring some brave friends, because you will need them. There will be many very angry and hostile spirits lingering in the swamps along this trail. They become very upset when people intrude their swamp at night, especially this time of year when the spirits become very active. You may be one of the fortunate people to exit the trail in one piece.

Happy Halloween
