January, 2012

Dear Neighbors:

To begin with, we at the Seymour Land Trust would like to wish one and all a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.  Hopefully 2012 will be a good year for all of us.  As you probably know, 2011 wasn’t a very kind year for the Land Trust property, as well as for many of our neighbors.  We are now in the process of repairing the damage done.  Thanks to many of you, we have the funds to begin some of our projects.  It’s going to be another very busy year on Chatfield Street.  We can use all the volunteers who would like to come on board.  Be sure to check off, on the membership form, any projects you would like to help with.  Hopefully, we can turn the park back to its previous state of beauty and tranquility.

Since it is January, this letter is being sent to you as our membership drive begins again.  The prices for membership are the same as they have been in previous years.  Please note:  anyone joining as a lifetime member will be awarded a free rental of the newly expanded hall in the Henry Hamel Environmental Center.   We really appreciate all our past members and hope they will join us once again.  New members are always very welcome to join our ranks.  Don’t forget, as we are a non-profit organization as defined under IRS Code 501C3, your donation is deductible.

Also, this year we will choose three memberships from the first 100 received and they will each be given a free hall rental.  The renovated hall is now capable of accommodating 110 people for a party.

We feel that with a lot of hard work we may be able to once again schedule our annual events for the community.  We believe residents in our community deserve some quality recreational and educational activities.  Your financial assistance – by becoming a member – will help us to achieve our goals.  The Seymour Land Trust remains committed to our goal to make life more pleasant and enjoyable for you and your family.  For updates on Land Trust activities, check out our website at www.seymourlandtrust.org or Facebook at Seymour Land Trust.

We rely exclusively on volunteers, donations and grants to support our organization.  No tax dollars are provided from either the town, the State or the Federal government to subsidize the Land Trust and every dollar we receive is used for material, equipment, and providing services.  We are all volunteers serving you and our community.

The membership form is printed on the back of this letter, again to conserve paper and cost.  Your donation and

support are very important.  Checks should be made payable to the Seymour Land Trust and returned in the enclosed self-addressed envelope.  Our mailing address is P. O. Box 366 in Seymour, CT.  When you receive your membership card, it will include contact information regarding hall rental, membership, etc.  Consider giving a membership to friends and relatives for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Thank you for your consideration to our request.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        Seymour Land Trust Officers,

Board of Directors and Volunteers
